I think examining what's within a story you write. and how the characters and plot are shaped can tell you a lot about yourself as a writer. Are you the type of person that tries to layer every single character, even the secondary ones? Do you think the focus should be on the protagonist and antagonist, and fleshing out the side characters detracts from them? What about planning—do you outline, or should you jump in and go for it?
